One of the late, great masters of the Telecaster, Roy Buchanan, in a video from Austin City Limits.
Roy was one of the most expressive guitarists to play, and his work with pinch harmonics and volume swells influenced disciples as well known as Jeff Beck and Billy Gibbons.These three videos come from a soundcheck that Stevie Ray Vaughn did in 1986. It's amazing to see him yawning, walking up on stage, and throw down like this, just for a soundcheck.
Here's a nice and clean video, covering Led Zeppelin's classic blues rocker Communication Breakdown. The fingering comes from Jimmy Page's live chording approach, which appears to be a bit different from the studio recorded version.
I have a Mexican made '09 Tele in arctic white that I'm thinking of turning into an Esquire, since I already have a really nice GE Smith Tele and a Washburn Laredo Tele-style. As I was surfing the web tonight looking at various Esquires, i saw a bit of info about Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes, who has a fantastic '55 Esquire. Below is a video of the rich sounds in this instrument.
I'm a huge fan of Anthony Stauffer's site StevieSnacks, which teaches Stevie Ray Vaughan style electric blues guitar. Anthony's a great player and a very effective teacher.
He recently posted a very nice set of mechanical drills to teach finger independance, helpful for beginning guitarists who are working on motor skills and coordination. Below is the video, and here's a link to Anthony's explanation of the drill from his website.I have a soft spot in my heart for Reverend guitars - partly because they're funky, and partly just because I love the name (and am a pastor myself :-)).
